Are you ready to move beyond traditional surround sound? An immersive, 3D audio experience, the new Dolby Atmos sound format uses the third dimension of height to create the best possible audio experience in your home theater. With a Dolby Atmos-enabled sound bar, or as few as six speakers in a conventional home theater system, you can experience cinema-quality sound at home.

Dolby Atmos creates powerful, moving audio by introducing two important concepts to cinema sound: audio objects and overhead speakers. With the new format, sounds exist as individual entities that move around you in three-dimensional space — instead of being constrained to channels — so you feel like you’re inside the action. Dolby Atmos renders everything from dialogue to action scenes with astonishing clarity, richness and depth.

A new sensation of height immerses you in the action, creating a full audio atmosphere and realistically depicting objects moving overhead. Not interested in ceiling-mounted speakers? Dolby Atmos has processing that allows upward-firing drivers in regular floor-standing (or stand-mounted) speakers. That means sound bounces off the ceiling to create the same effect.

You may need a new receiver, but many new receivers are already shipping with Dolby Atmos or will be upgradable with firmware soon. Cinegration can tell your new receiver what speakers you have and where they are to build a custom surround mix based on your room.

  • Metadata works within current Blu-ray and HDMI specifications
  • Sits on top of the existing 5.1 mix and is activated when it detects a compatible decoder
  • Backward-compatible, so you can play a Blu-ray movie even if your current speakers aren’t compatible
  • Receiver will detect additional information if your speakers are compatible
